About the event
“Winter solstice celebrations honour the symbolism of fire and light, along with death, life, the rising moon, and the sun.”
Join us for a winter solstice celebration where we will come together as a community to honour and welcome in the new light and life that the days after the winter solstice will bring.
1pm - arrival and settle in 1:10 - 1:30pm - welcome and afternoon tea 1:30 - 2:30pm - Yoga with Yuki 2:30 - 2:45pm - comfort break 2:45 - 3:45 - Sound Healing with Rachel 3:45 - 4pm - farewell
We will be offering a warming afternoon tea and light refreshments.
Yuki will guide you through a gentle yoga practice starting with breathe work to help you relax as we flow into some mindful movement to lengthen and strengthen your whole body from the inside out, benefiting your mind, body and spirit. This offering is designed to be suitable for all abilities, whether a first time or seasoned yogi.
Yoga is so much more than the poses. The poses are a means to help the body be comfortable in meditation.
They are designed as a way to facilitate understanding and mastery over the mind. In addition, yoga is SO much more than the yoga poses - considerations on how to avoid harming ourselves or others, breath work, meditation and self-study to name a few. Yoga offers us guidance on how to connect mind, body and spirit in order to live with meaning, freedom and purpose.
Rachel will guide you through a sound healing that will take you into a deep state of relaxation. Sound healing is a wonderful way to restore balance to your Mind, Body and Soul. The healing power of sound has been an integral part of human civilization for thousands of years. Sound healing is as scientific as it is mysterious. Sound Healing provokes a deep state of relaxation and meditation using sounds and vibrations from Tibetan & crystal singing bowls, gongs, and many other instruments. These therapeutic sound tools have been used by ancient cultures for this purpose for thousands of years.
Sound Healing can help with: * depression * anxiety * pain * insomnia & disturbed sleep * stress
It can also bring about: * clarity and balance * relaxation * improved memory & concentration * improved sleep * stronger immune system * improved creativity
You do not need to have any experience in either yoga or sound healing to attend.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the start to give yourself time to settle in.
Things to Bring: * a yoga mat, pillow and blanket for your comfort * wear something comfy and bring something warm to wear for the sound healing as your body temperature may drop * if you have an eye pillow that would be great * bring a bottle of water * a keep cup for your afternoon tea
